Some things leave a mark on you that takes you a while to notice. In my effort to discover who I am at this critical transition from student to artist, I uncover these moments.
Cheyenne Grubbs portrays her attention to detail through a variation of painting and ceramics. While her hometown of Greenville, South Carolina, with its growing art community, influenced her to pick up a paint brush, her study of Studio Art at Appalachian State University introduced her to the North Carolinian love of clay. Ceramicist Diane Kempler and photographer Karl Blossfeldt influence her ceramics with microscopic botanical representation. Her paintings portray her attention to changes in family relationships through acrylic and watercolor. She uses art to show others the small things that may go unnoticed in everyday life.
